Blog Entry July 1, 2011: What today

I recently got the chance to speak with a couple of creative directors from two web designing companies about what's upcoming. The hype right now seems to be all about the wave of mobile application development and software. "Mobile is where we are all heading, everything from using your smart phone as a payment method to starting your car remotely is now being done through our handheld devices and we see this trend to offer even more conveniences in the future", says the Creative Director of Skygate Media, Today top website designs must include mobile versions that will adapt to the various devices in the market. This is easier said than done, with the different platforms related to the variety of equipment available means that not all images will function the same way. The idea of one universal platform can't exist because that would eliminate competition and dull the market. Besides mobile, 3D images have been increasingly becoming more prevalent and incorporated by top web designers. Web designing companies are leaning toward a more open source technology allowing for a greater exchange of ideas amongst the professionals in the field. The bar has been raised in design by a zealous overseas contingent of designers that are producing some of today's finest and most innovative site the web has to offer. It is known in the industry that Europe is where you go for high end design support. "There are just simply a lot of quality young designers coming out of that particular area that it is hard not to partner with a few of the most cutting edge of those professional for the benefit of our clients websites." Design has always been about evolving and reinventing and there is no better way to do that then through open source platforms that exchange trends and ideas to one another. It must be stated that when speak of future trends in website development we should keep in mind that the web itself is a ever changing entity that shifts and moves with the times. Take for example the move by the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the international body that coordinates Internet names, approved the expansion of gTLDs and allowed organizations to add web domain suffixes for their brands, generic names, or even cities: .miami, .green, .walmart, .hosting, .nyc, .food, .news, etc. This will create a new window for designers to make their mark on the industry with the .com restriction lifted. There you have it a few advances to keep your eye on, everything from even more interactive mobile applications to a new way we search the web and how we view our websites.
